after the eruptive activity of this last days, the explosive and effusive activity at the south-est crater is finished.


Monday 11 December
from 01.00 (local time) the seismographs of the INGV Catania, situated in the summit of Etna, have starting to register more seismic events; from 04.30 (local time) starting a new eruptive activity at the south-est crater.

after five months of eruption, the activity at the south-est crater is finished.

actually on Etna is present the explosive activity at the base of the south-est crater with emission of ash, with many problems for the Catania airport. The lavaflow are flowing inside the Bove Valley.

Etna is in activity again, It is present the lavaflow that from the base of the south-est crater are flowing inside the Bove Valley, and usually every two days the paroxysm at the south-est crater. In this last days the ash of the volcano obliged the closing of Catania airport.

this night at 00.30 (local time) at the base of the south-est crater, at about 2.800 m a.s.l., one new effusive mouth has been opened; the lava are flowing in direction Bove Valley. Absent the explosive activity.

after 24 hours from the starting of a new eruption on the south-est crater, yestarday evening, is all finished again. The activity that has interested the south-est crater from last july until yestarday, is a typical paroxysm (of some days or some hours), that It was observed during the years 1999-2001, before the big eruption of july/august 2006.

the explosive and effusive activity at the south-est crater is in increase. Yestarday afternoon, at about 18.30 (local time), there was an activity ash emission at the summit of the south-est crater, for sake some collapse, and a new lavaflow.


Thursday 7 September 2006,
At time 4.40 (local time), the lavaflow that in the last days flowed along the est side of the crater in a big depression "voragine" was born during the eruption 2004/05, overflowed in direction of the base of the same crater. At 13.30 (local time), the lavaflow is already arrived at about 2.850 mt inside the Bove Valley.

From the morning there is an explosive activity, of "stromboliana" type, from the summit of the south-est crater, with rumbles at regular intervals of 5-10 sec.

After the eruption of last 14-23 july 2006, the south-est crater is in activity again.
