Etna Activities.
The first of the "parossistici" events started in the night between the 12th and the 13th of January 2011, when from the well crater, which formed on the eastern side of south-east crater, Etna caused lava fountains, which during its activity reached an height of about 500 metres from the crater edge and long lava flowing which flooded into a good part of the western face of the Bove Valley, and in so doing it overlapped on the ancient flowing which by now are cold and it reached the base of the Centenari Mounts, situated at 1900 m. In addition to this, a tight ash rain affected the built-up areas of the eastern side and it caused a lot of problems in the towns of Fornazzo, Milo, Giarre, Riposto as well as in a part of the Catania-Messina highway.

The first repetition of this phenomenon arrived about one month later, between the 17th and the 18th of February. After a break of about 50 days, Etna make people talk about itself on 10th April, and it presented the same events of the precedent eruptions, that is lava flowing, lava fountains and ash rains on the towns of the eastern side. Hence, one month later, on 12th May, other events of this activity were registered and they happened again on 9th July, while, on 11th July after 10 years, one of the four peak craters of the volcano, the Bocca Nuova, woke and caused a series of Strombolian explosions, together with various gas and ash emissions. From 9th July there was an acceleration in the manifestation of this events, that happened again on the 18th of July , on the 25th, on the 30th and in the end on the 5th of Auguston the 12th, on the 20th and on the 29th, when there was the twelfth of this "parossistici" episodes and the most intense of all. The next was on the 8th September, to follow the 19th and September 28th, 8th and 23th October.
